Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has expressed optimism about India's potential to become the world's leading exporter of artificial intelligence (AI) products and talent. Huang stated that India could surpass all other nations in producing and exporting AI expertise. He emphasized the importance of upskilling and reskilling engineers within Nvidia to ensure they remain competitive in the AI-driven job market, asserting that AI itself doesn't take jobs, but rather those who utilize AI effectively do.
As part of their broader commitment to advancing AI skills, Nvidia plans to reskill over 600,000 employees at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest IT services firm, in AI. Huang also expressed a desire to collaborate with other IT services companies and Indian universities to provide AI training for employees and students.
Nvidia, which currently employs approximately 2,200 people in India, intends to significantly expand its workforce in the country over the coming years. The company is actively engaged with the startup ecosystem, partnering with 15,000 startups globally, including those in India, for AI projects.
The significance of AI in India was underscored by a recent meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jensen Huang, during which they discussed India's potential in the AI sector. Nvidia, known as the "world's engine for AI," has witnessed remarkable growth, reporting a second-quarter revenue of $13.5 billion, primarily driven by the global AI boom. The company's commitment to AI innovation is evident, as its technologies are utilized by tech giants such as Alibaba, Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Snap, Spotify, Tencent, and thousands of other companies worldwide.
