On the fourth day of the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, over 7 crore (70 million) devotees took a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam, making it one of the world’s largest religious gatherings. On January 14, during Makar Sankranti, more than 3.5 crore (35 million) devotees took a holy dip. The third Shahi Snan, which is the most significant bathing day of the Kumbh, is expected to attract over 10 crore (100 million) people to Prayagraj.
International Presence at the Kumbh
The Kumbh Mela also saw international participation. A 21-member team from ten different countries visited the Triveni Sangam to take part in the holy bath. These foreign visitors met with saints from the Akharas (religious groups) to learn more about the traditions of the event. Their visit highlights the global appeal of the Maha Kumbh.
