India has taken a major leap in modern infrastructure with the inauguration of the New Pamban Bridge — the nation’s first vertical-lift railway sea bridge, located in Tamil Nadu. 🚆 A Grand Inauguration on Ram Navami
The New Pamban Bridge was unveiled in a ceremony graced by Prime Minister Modi, railway officials, engineers, and the local community. The event was timed with Ram Navami, an auspicious Hindu festival, adding spiritual significance to this national achievement.
As part of the inauguration, the Rameswaram-Tambaram Express became the first train to cross the bridge, officially restoring full rail connectivity to the pilgrimage town.
A live demonstration showed the bridge’s vertical-lift span in action, as it rose to let an Indian Coast Guard vessel pass below — a powerful showcase of engineering excellence.
