Discover PresVu, India's first eye drop designed to treat presbyopia, offering a new alternative to reading glasses for middle-aged individuals.

On Tuesday, a novel eyedrop was introduced in India, certainly providing middle-aged people with an alternative to reading glasses. As the first eye drop in India, PresVu, a unique medication, achieved a major milestone in the field of eye care last month when the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) authorized its commercialization.

What is PresVu?

The Mumbai-based pharmaceutical business Entod Pharmaceuticals created the eye drop PresVu. It is designed to treat presbyopia, a common visual damage that affects individuals forty years of age and older. Presbyopia, a condition where the eyes gradually lose their capacity to focus on close objects, is a normal part of aging and makes reading without glasses difficult.

How Does PresVu Work?

1.25 percent pilocarpine hydrochloride, a substance produced from plants that has been used for decades in a variety of eye therapies, is the main component of PresVu. By narrowing the pupil, pilocarpine improves the depth of focus and makes it easier for the eyes to perceive close things. This process helps people focus on near work without the need for reading glasses by temporarily relieving the symptoms of presbyopia.

A Cost-Effective Solution

For individuals wishing to withdraw themselves from reading glasses, PresVu is an economical solution, with each vial costing approximately Rs 345 and meant to last for almost a month. Entod Pharmaceuticals started doing research and development on this affordable solution in 2019, and it took years to complete.

The product known as Victory, which was introduced on the US market in 2022, has a formula similar to PresVu's. The efficacy of Vuity, the only FDA-approved eye drop for treating age-related blurred vision, has drawn a lot of attention. With the launch of PresVu, India is now part of the worldwide initiative to offer cutting-edge presbyopia treatments.

A New Era in Eye Care

With the introduction of PresVu in India, middle-aged people now have an alternative method of managing their presbyopia, which is a major improvement in eye care. PresVu is poised to become an invaluable tool for people who want to retain clean vision without constantly wearing reading glasses, thanks to its reasonable price and efficient composition.
