Four members of a Pune family tragically died on Sunday afternoon in a waterfall behind the Bhushi Dam in Lonavala. Among the victims were a mom and three children. One minor family member remained missing as of Monday morning.

The family had traveled to Lonavala for a picnic; they were from the Pune suburb of Hadapsar. When they entered the waterfall area behind the well-known Bhushi Dam, their peaceful excursion tragically became terrible. Strong currents and slick rocks combined to be lethal.

A rescue mission was started right away by the Pune rural police, INS Shivaji staff, and volunteers from the "Shivdurg Mitra Mandal." They put in every effort to find the family members who had gone missing in the dangerous waters.

During the rescue operations, three bodies were found: the 13-year-old girl Ameena Salman, also known as Adil Ansari; the 8-year-old younger sister Umera Salman, also known as Adil Ansari; and the 37-year-old woman Shahista Liyakat Ansari. Rescuers hoped to discover the missing minor safe, so they kept searching for him.

The Bhushi Dam region, a well-liked vacation spot with gorgeous scenery and waterfalls, can be especially dangerous in the rainy season.
