It is also said that an innovation center would be set up with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for providing comprehensive systems solutions benefiting a wide range of industries.
"We see great potential in collaborating with Renesas in areas like automotive electronics and present and future telecom networks. The collaboration will accelerate our presence in these areas in India as well as globally,” N Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons said.
Both of them seek to develop next-generation automotive electronics that would scale the development of the electronic vehicles and would strengthen the market position of Tata Motors in the Indian Automobile Sector.
The collaboration with Tejas Network will include the implementation of the next-generation wireless network solutions in the 4G and the 5G spectrum that would open a radio access network (O-RAN) enabling open and flexible 5G RAN deployments and allowing wider interoperability.
“Tata group is slowly but steadily making progress in its venture into semiconductors. They have plans to invest $300 million in chip packaging (OSAT), took a stake in Tejas (product company) and Saankhya (design), and are said to be in discussions for a fab in India to address its growing automotive needs and future EV plans. A reputed and big group like Tata getting more into semiconductors is a good sign for the future of the ecosystem in India," Arun Mampazhy, a semiconductor veteran and analyst said in an interview.
