A 15-year-old boy was arrested in Malvan, Maharashtra, after he was accused of shouting "anti-national" slogans during the India-Pakistan cricket match on Sunday. The incident happened around 9:30 pm when a passerby claimed to have heard the boy making these comments. Neighbors confronted the family, which led to a fight, and the police were called.
Since the boy is a minor, he was sent to an observation home, while his parents were arrested and charged with promoting enmity between religious groups and making statements against national unity. The couple has been sent to judicial custody.
The situation sparked anger in the community, and on Monday, a motorcycle rally was held, with locals demanding further action. The family, originally from Uttar Pradesh, moved to Malvan 15 years ago.
Shiv Sena MLA Nilesh Rane accused the family of making anti-India comments and confirmed that the local municipal council demolished their scrap shop for lacking proper permission. During the demolition, a family vehicle was also damaged.
Rane thanked the municipal council and police for acting quickly. However, the Sindhudurg District Collector has not commented on the demolition.
This incident has raised questions about the actions of the authorities and whether the demolition was justified. The boy’s parents face serious charges, and the case has sparked debate in the region.
