The assault occurred as she disembarked from her train and entered the AC coach of another train to use the restroom. Kushwaha, who was also a passenger on the same train, forcibly locked the doors and assaulted her between Pakaria and Maihar railway stations. Despite her resistance, the assailant threatened her, instilling fear for her life.
In a courageous attempt to escape, when the train halted at a station, the survivor feigned thirst and, when Kushwaha went to fetch water, she seized the opportunity, jumping off the train and fleeing barefoot, leaving behind her belongings.

Seeking help, she approached an RPF constable at Satna station, initiating a pursuit to apprehend the attacker. The constable, along with the team, chased the train, but Kushwaha locked himself inside the AC coach. Subsequent efforts to open the coach's door proved futile until a mechanical team at Rewa railway station successfully unlocked it, leading to the arrest of the accused by GRP personnel around 11:30 am.
The quick action and determination of the survivor, along with the prompt response of law enforcement, led to the capture of the suspect, preventing a potential escape.
