On October 29th, a tragic train collision occurred in the Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh, India.
A Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger train collided with a Visakhapatnam-Ragada passenger train, leading to the derailment of three coaches. The incident has resulted in a significant loss of life and injuries.
Biswajit Sahu, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of East Coast Railway, reported that the collision had claimed the lives of 11 individuals, while 50 others sustained injuries. The immediate focus has been on restoring the damaged railway tracks, and the rescue operation has concluded.
Buses and trains have been arranged to assist stranded passengers, although 18 trains were canceled, and 22 were diverted as a result of the incident.

Waltair Division Railway Manager Saurabh Prasad explained that the collision occurred when the rear train overshot a signal, leading to the derailment of five coaches, three from the front train and two from the rear train. More than 30 people were injured, and rescue efforts are ongoing.
The Andhra Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has promised compensation of ₹10 lakh to the families of the deceased and ₹2 lakh to those seriously injured. A similar compensation package will be provided to families of victims from other states.

Vizianagaram District administration has reported that 40 people were injured, with four in critical condition.
While rescue and relief efforts continue, this tragic incident has highlighted the need for safety and vigilance in India's railway system.
