Narayana Murthy, the founder of Infosys, recently spoke at the centenary celebrations of the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Kolkata. He praised the city, calling it "the most cultured place in the entire country." During his address, he emphasized the importance of setting high aspirations for India and working hard to achieve them.

Murthy pointed out that 800 million Indians rely on free ration, which highlights the level of poverty in the country. He urged Indians to work harder to overcome these challenges and achieve global standards. Drawing from his experience at Infosys, he explained how his company compared itself to the best global companies to continuously improve and innovate. He believes that Indians need to adopt a similar mindset of striving for excellence.

Reflecting on his past, Murthy mentioned that he was influenced by Leftist ideals during Jawaharlal Nehru's time as prime minister. He admired the establishment of institutions like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), which inspired him to pursue entrepreneurship and contribute to the country's development.

Murthy’s speech was a call to action for Indians to aim higher, work harder, and aspire to be among the best in the world while addressing the pressing issue of poverty.
