Remembering Evelyn: A Life Filled with Love and Laughter
Evelyn Perry Fox, a woman who radiated warmth and kindness, passed away peacefully at 95. Her obituary from Allnutt Funeral Service barely scratches the surface of the incredible life she lived. It’s hard to summarize it all, really. It was a life packed with so much love, adventure, and unwavering faith. Let me tell you about her.
Growing Up in Colorado
Evelyn was born in Windsor, Colorado, the third of seven kids to Anna Elisabeth and Heinrich (Henry) Becker. Their German heritage, tracing back to the Volga Region of Russia, instilled in Evelyn a strong work ethic – seriously, this woman never stopped working! – and a deep, abiding faith. Those values? They were the foundation of everything she did.
Family was everything to Evelyn. She cherished every moment with her siblings, children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren. Honestly, you could just feel the love radiating from her when she talked about them.
And her faith? It wasn't just something she talked about; it shaped her actions, making her incredibly compassionate and kind to everyone she met. She had this amazing ability to connect with people – a true gift.
Love, Laughter, and a Whole Lotta Dancing
Beyond her family, Evelyn was just fun to be around. She loved dancing – the Dutch Hop and the Lindy Hop were her favorites – playing cards, and tending her beautiful home and garden. She found joy in the simplest things, appreciating every little moment. It was inspiring, you know?
From Colorado to California and Back Again
Evelyn's life took a real turn when she met Larry Perry, a soldier from Brooklyn. Their story is straight out of a movie! She packed up and headed to California with just $50 in her purse to be with him! They married in 1944, and their family grew with the arrival of their daughter Sheila and son Lawrence.
Military life brought its share of ups and downs. They moved to Brooklyn after Larry's discharge, but eventually, they found their way back to Colorado, settling in Loveland in 1960. That’s where Evelyn stayed for years.
After Larry passed away in 1970, Evelyn found love again with Charles (Chuck) Fox Jr., marrying him in 1971. Chuck passed away in 1990. Through everything, Evelyn remained incredibly resilient. She faced every challenge with grace and an unwavering spirit.
A Life of Work and Endless Optimism
Evelyn’s career was as varied as her life experiences. She was a fantastic restaurant manager and hostess, later becoming a Walmart greeter, retiring at a remarkable 85! She genuinely loved every job she had – amazing, right? That positive attitude, that endless optimism… it was infectious.
Evelyn is survived by her brother Dale Becker, daughter Sheila Berg, son Lawrence Perry, and a huge extended family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved sisters and spouses. A memorial service will be held at Allnutt Funeral Service on Saturday, November 25th, at 11 a.m., with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Foothills Gateway, Pathways Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
