On 31st October an FIR was filed against Reporter TV and its coordinating editor Sujaya Parvathy. The FIR has been filed based on a complaint filed by a resident of Kochi, Yasin Arafath.
A Malayalam TV reporting channel has been accused along with its staff journalist of sowing hate among different religions through its coverage of the very recently occurred blast.
The blast occurred on the 29th of October at the gathering of the Christian Sect Jehovah’s Witnesses in Kochi.
As the police reported, the complaint was filed on 31 October alleging that the journalist and the TV reporting channel had not only defamed the Muslim community but also attempted to link the ongoing Israel and Palestine with the IED blast.

"The Thrikkakara police station in Kochi has registered an FIR under sections 153 and 153 (A) of the Indian Penal Code, as well as section 120 (o) of the Kerala Police Act. An officer at the police station has stated that they are currently investigating the matter.
In a televised broadcast, Parvathy confirmed that the network intends to pursue the legal case. She emphasized that there may be ulterior motives behind this case and asserted that Reporter TV will vigorously resist any efforts to undermine media freedom.
