India's pride walked the global stage in a breathtaking tribute to tradition at the Miss World 2025 opening ceremony.

The 72nd Miss World pageant opened with grandeur on May 13 at Hyderabad’s Gachibowli Stadium. Representing India on this international platform, Nandini Gupta, Femina Miss India World 2023, turned heads in a timeless traditional outfit that beautifully honored India's cultural legacy.

A Tribute to Tradition

Dressed in a handcrafted ensemble by renowned designer Gaurang Shah, Nandini's outfit became a visual celebration of India's rich textile heritage. The attire blended Jamdani weaving techniques from Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, featuring the iconic Bangdi Mor motif — four dancing peacocks encased in a bangle.

The result? A regal and graceful look that reflected both elegance and storytelling.

The Three-Year Creation Behind the Magic

In an interview with The New Indian Express, Gaurang Shah revealed the depth of craftsmanship behind the attire.

"The base is charkha-spun khadi interwoven with gold zari Jamdani in a leharia pattern," Gaurang explained. "The palla and borders feature the Bangdi Mor motif, and the shimmer of gold on the ivory base adds a quiet luxury."

Creating the fabric took nearly three years, with eight master artisans dedicating themselves to the intricate handweaving. The idea was clear from the start — when Nandini’s team approached Gaurang, he immediately envisioned her in this ensemble for the world stage.
