Nationwide Building Society: £50 Thank You Gift for Members
Nationwide Building Society is giving a massive £600 million "thank you" to its 12 million members following its acquisition of Virgin Money. Each eligible member will receive a £50 bonus!
Who Qualifies for the £50 Bonus?
To claim your £50, you needed to be a Nationwide member as of 30 September 2024 and meet one of these criteria:
- At least one qualifying transaction on your account.
- A minimum balance of £100 across your accounts.
- At least £100 owed on a Nationwide mortgage.
- Switched to Nationwide via CASS between July 1 and September 30, 2024.
The payment will be deposited into your current, instant-access, or limited-access savings account, or your mortgage direct debit account if other accounts aren’t available.
When Will I Receive My Payment?
Eligible members should receive their £50 payment, marked "The Big Nationwide Thank You," between April 9th and May 14th, 2025. Nationwide will contact eligible customers by March 20th, 2025.
Why the £50 Bonus?
CEO Debbie Crosbie explained the bonus as a recognition of members' role in building Nationwide's financial strength, enabling the Virgin Money acquisition. This merger made Nationwide the second-largest provider of mortgages and savings accounts in the UK.
Beyond the £50
This £50 bonus is separate from Nationwide's Fairer Share Payment, which the company hopes to announce again in May 2025, subject to financial performance. This reflects Nationwide's commitment to returning value to its members.
