What are the Renfe Abonos Gratuitos?
Renfe, Spain's national railway company, offers free travel passes for regional and medium-distance trains. These aren't completely free—a refundable deposit is required ( €10 for Cercanías/Rodalies, €20 for Media Distancia). You get this deposit back after completing 16 journeys within the four-month validity period.
