Zomato's CEO, Deepinder Goyal, has introduced a unique addition to the company's leadership, appointing Anmol Gupta as the "Chief Fitness Officer," as revealed in Goyal's recent post on the platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
In this innovative role, Gupta will collaborate closely with an in-house wellness team comprising trainers, nutritionists, and well-being counselors. The primary focus of this initiative is to promote the well-being of Zomato's employees, as well as its delivery and restaurant partners.
This strategic move by Goyal follows his own fitness journey, which served as a personal inspiration. Reflecting on his transformational experience, Goyal shared his decision to prioritize his physical and mental health back in 2019, before the onset of the pandemic. Remarkably, Goyal's efforts resulted in a significant reduction in his weight, dropping from 87 kg in 2019 to a healthier 72 kg by 2023. His body fat percentage also underwent an impressive transformation, decreasing from 28 percent to an admirable 11.5 percent.
In his blog post, Goyal elaborated on the multifaceted role of the newly appointed CFO. The Chief Fitness Officer will be actively engaged in supporting Zomato's employees on their individual journeys toward wellness and healthy living. Collaborating with trainers, nutritionists, and well-being counselors, the CFO's responsibilities encompass a comprehensive range of initiatives.
Trainers will provide guidance in weight and strength training, yoga, boxing, and more, catering to individuals with varying levels of fitness experience. Nutritionists will contribute by devising meal plans that closely monitor macro and micronutrient intake, ensuring a holistic approach to nutrition.
Beyond these fitness-centric endeavors, Goyal has also announced the establishment of a fitness facility in Gurugram to promote an active lifestyle among employees. He also revealed further progressive policies including period leaves to support women's health, and Parental leaves of 6 months for parents, including those in same-sex relationships, as well as parents through surrogacy and adoption.
