The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed today, April 14, 2025, for Dr. BabaSaheb Ambedkar Jayanti. Trading will resume on Tuesday, April 15. Markets will also be shut on Friday, April 18, for Good Friday.
No trading will take place in equities, derivatives, SLBs, currency derivatives, or interest rate derivatives today. The commodity derivatives segment will be closed during the morning session (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) but will operate in the evening session (5:00 PM to 11:55 PM).
On April 11, the market rallied, with the Sensex jumping 1,310.11 points (1.77%) to 75,157.26 and the Nifty gaining 429.40 points (1.92%) to 22,828.55. The surge followed a 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump, excluding China. Despite a weekly dip of 0.3% for both indices, all sectoral indices ended higher, with metals up 4%, and auto, oil & gas, power, PSU, telecom, and pharma each rising 2%. Midcap and smallcap indices gained 1.8% and 3%, respectively.
Top Nifty performers included Hindalco Industries, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Coal India, and Jio Financial, while TCS, Asian Paints, and Apollo Hospitals trailed. Analysts observed a bullish pattern, with Nifty potentially targeting 23,400-23,500 if it holds above 22,900-23,000, with support at 22,700.
The Indian rupee rose to 86.05 per dollar on Friday, from 86.69, buoyed by stronger regional currencies and tariff relief. USDINR support is seen at 85.40, with resistance at 86.90.
