Canada Votes 2025: Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent & Sarnia
Canadians head to the polls on April 28, 2025, just two months after the Ontario provincial election. This federal election will see newly redrawn riding boundaries, impacting several areas including Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, and Sarnia. CBC Windsor is tracking the candidates in these key ridings to keep you informed.
Key Ridings & Candidates
Several incumbents are seeking re-election. Brian Masse (NDP) in Windsor West, Irek Kusmierczyk (Liberal) in the newly-configured Windsor—Tecumseh—Lakeshore, Chris Lewis (Conservative) in Essex, Dave Epp (Conservative) in Chatham-Kent—Leamington, and Marilyn Gladu (Conservative) in Sarnia—Lambton—Bkejwanong are all vying for their seats. However, the updated boundaries will undoubtedly shake things up.
Windsor West, home to significant infrastructure projects, already sees candidates from the People's Party of Canada (Jacob Bezaire), Conservative Party (Harbinder Gill), Communist Party (Joey Markham), and the incumbent NDP candidate.
Windsor—Tecumseh—Lakeshore features candidates from the People's Party (Nick Babic), NDP (Alex Ilijoski), Liberals (Irek Kusmierczyk), and Conservatives (Mark McKenzie).
Essex, includes Amherstburg, Essex, Kingsville, and LaSalle. Candidates include Jason Henry (People's Party), Chris Lewis (Conservative), Chris Sutton (Liberal), and Lori Wightman (NDP).
Chatham-Kent—Leamington currently has Dave Epp (Conservative) as the only announced candidate so far.
Sarnia—Lambton—Bkejwanong, encompassing Sarnia and Walpole Island, awaits further candidate announcements. Keep checking back for updates!
