Parvesh Verma Secures Victory BJP leader Parvesh Verma has won a major victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, defeating Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and outgoing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency. His win marks a significant moment in Delhi politics.

Daughters Express Gratitude

After his victory, Verma’s daughters, Sanidhi and Trisha, thanked voters for their support.

Sanidhi, speaking to ANI, shared her happiness and gratitude. "We are all very happy. I thank the people of New Delhi for giving us this opportunity. We have always respected the responsibilities given to him by the party, and we will continue to do so," she said.

Trisha also expressed her appreciation and took a dig at AAP’s governance. "We thank the people of New Delhi for their support. The people of Delhi have realized the truth and did not repeat the mistake of trusting false promises. We were always confident about the win; it was just a matter of time," she stated.

BJP’s Strong Performance in Delhi

The election results showed a strong wave in favor of the BJP, with the party leading in 45 out of 70 assembly seats. This is a major shift, as BJP has not been in power in Delhi since 1998. Meanwhile, AAP had dominated the past decade with major wins in 2015 and 2020.

Delhi, with 1.55 crore eligible voters, saw a voter turnout of 60.54% in the elections held on February 5.

Who is Parvesh Verma?

Parvesh Verma was born on November 7, 1977, and comes from a politically strong family. He studied at Delhi Public School, RK Puram, and later completed his MBA from the Fore School of Management.

His father, the late Sahib Singh Verma, was a former Chief Minister of Delhi and a senior BJP leader. His uncle, Azad Singh, was also active in politics and served as the mayor of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation.

Verma began his political journey in 2013 by winning the Mehrauli assembly seat. He later entered national politics, winning the West Delhi Lok Sabha seat in 2014 and retaining it in 2019 with a record-breaking margin.

In 2024, he chose to return to state politics, contesting and winning the New Delhi seat against Arvind Kejriwal, marking a new chapter in his political career.
