Man Posing as Cardiologist Booked After 7 Deaths in Damoh Hospital
Authorities in Madhya Pradesh have filed a case against a man who posed as a heart specialist at a missionary hospital in Damoh, after seven patients died following treatment.
The accused, identified as Narendra John Camm, was allegedly treating patients at the hospital without real medical qualifications.
The First Information Report (FIR) was filed based on a complaint from the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) of Damoh district, Dr. M.K. Jain.
Fake Doctor Allegedly Practiced Without Medical Degree
According to police sources, the man had been practicing as a cardiologist at a local missionary hospital without holding any valid degree or license. He allegedly used the title “Dr.” before his name to gain the trust of patients and staff.
Initial reports suggest that at least seven people died after receiving treatment under his care. The deaths triggered suspicion and eventually led to an internal review by the health department.
FIR Registered, Investigation Underway
Following the complaint by Dr. Jain, the Damoh police registered an FIR against Narendra John Camm. The charges could include cheating, impersonation, and causing death by negligence, officials said.
An investigation is now underway to determine how he was hired by the hospital and whether more people may have been harmed during his time there.
Hospital's Role Under Scrutiny
Authorities are also examining the hospital’s recruitment process to understand how someone without verified credentials was allowed to treat patients for an extended period.
The missionary hospital, which has been known for serving underprivileged communities, has not issued a public statement yet.
Public Reaction and Health Dept Response
The case has sparked public outrage in Damoh and nearby areas. Many locals are demanding accountability from both the hospital and local authorities for allowing such negligence.
The Madhya Pradesh Health Department has promised a full inquiry and said strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty of enabling or covering up the fraud.
