Kedar Jadhav Joins BJP in Mumbai After Retiring from Cricket
Former Indian cricketer Kedar Jadhav officially entered politics by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on April 8 in Mumbai. The announcement was made in the presence of Maharashtra minister and state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
Jadhav had retired from all formats of cricket in June 2024 at the age of 39. He played international cricket for India between 2014 and 2020 and was widely known for his all-round capabilities.
While addressing the media, Jadhav said,
"I bow to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Under Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Fadnavis, BJP is leading with development. I’m proud to begin this new journey under Bawankule ji’s leadership."
Bawankule welcomed Jadhav warmly, stating,
“It’s a proud day for us. Kedar Jadhav has made his mark in every field he stepped into. His entry into the BJP strengthens our mission. Many others from Hingoli and Nanded have also joined us today.”
