Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Saturday publicly congratulated Ramesh Bidhuri, claiming that the former Member of Parliament (MP) is likely to be announced as the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) candidate for Chief Minister (CM) in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

At a press conference, Kejriwal expressed that his sources were informing him that BJP would soon make an official announcement about Ramesh Bidhuri’s name as the CM face. Kejriwal, who previously served as Delhi’s Chief Minister, wished Bidhuri and said, "I congratulate Ramesh Bidhuri on becoming the CM face of BJP."

However, Kejriwal raised questions about the BJP leader’s record and his contribution to the development of Delhi during his tenure as an MP. He challenged Ramesh Bidhuri to share his achievements and vision for the city, asking, "What did Ramesh Bidhuri do for the development of Delhi during his time as an MP? What is his vision for the city?"

Not stopping there, Kejriwal proposed a public debate between the CM candidates of AAP and BJP. He stated, “Once Ramesh Bidhuri’s name is officially announced, there should be a debate between the two CM candidates in front of the people of Delhi.”

On the same day, the BJP held a crucial meeting of its Central Election Committee (CEC) to finalize the remaining candidates for the Delhi Assembly election. The meeting, held at BJP headquarters, included key figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, as well as prominent Delhi BJP leaders.

Reports suggest the meeting focused on finalizing candidates for constituencies where discussions were still pending. The BJP is expected to release its official list of candidates on Saturday.

The Delhi Assembly election is set to take place on February 5, with the results scheduled for declaration on February 8.
