Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled for a significant visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from February 13-14, marking his seventh trip to the country since 2015, and his third in the past eight months, as announced by India's Ministry of External Affairs. This visit underscores the strong strategic partnership between India and the UAE. A highlight of the visit will be the inauguration of Abu Dhabi's first Hindu temple on February 14, a milestone event in PM Modi's itinerary, according to Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra.
In addition to the temple inauguration, PM Modi will engage in bilateral discussions with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President, Prime Minister, and Defence Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. These meetings aim to further enhance the already robust strategic relationship between India and the UAE, with discussions expected on a range of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Another significant engagement for PM Modi will be his participation in the World Government Summit 2024 as the Guest of Honour, where he is slated to deliver a special keynote address. Moreover, the Prime Minister is set to address the Indian diaspora in the UAE at the 'Ahlan Modi' event in Abu Dhabi's Zayed Sports City on February 13. The event has garnered immense interest, with initial registrations exceeding 65,000, although adjustments have been made to accommodate 35,000 to 40,000 attendees due to weather concerns.
The BAPS Hindu Mandir, which PM Modi will inaugurate, represents a historic addition to the cultural landscape of the Middle East, being the first traditional Hindu stone temple in the region. The temple, covering 27 acres of land, including 13.5 acres donated by Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, symbolizes the UAE's commitment to fostering religious harmony.
Following his engagements in the UAE, PM Modi is set to visit Doha, Qatar, on February 14, continuing India's diplomatic outreach in the Gulf region. This visit follows the recent release of eight former Indian naval personnel by Qatar, a gesture welcomed by India and personally overseen by PM Modi. His talks with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, will aim to expand the bilateral ties between the two nations, building on the positive momentum following the resolution of the naval personnel's case.
