The INDIA bloc's coordination committee is set to convene in New Delhi for the first time to strategize for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Opposition leaders are set to discuss a campaign strategy to challenge the ruling party amid concerns of a government-led "witch hunt" targeting opposition figures through probe agencies. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) will be conspicuously absent from the meeting because they have yet to nominate a representative for the committee.

The CPIM's decision on representation is expected to be made during their politburo meeting on September 16-17. However, the meeting will be hampered by the absence of Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, who has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with an alleged school jobs scam.

The Trinamool Congress has decided not to send a replacement for Banerjee in a gesture of unity, emphasizing their concerns about the perceived "witch hunt" against opposition leaders. One of the key topics of discussion will be the agreement of a seat-sharing formula among opposition parties to field joint candidates against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Lok Sabha constituencies.

Leaders in Delhi, Punjab, and West Bengal prioritize collective interests over individual ambitions for alliance success, with seat allocation based on recent election performance. The meeting will also focus on finalizing election campaigns and rallies, with specific plans tailored to each state.

Alliance partners engage in voter outreach, joint rallies, and door-to-door campaigns, focusing on broader national issues like rising prices and unemployment, despite differing opinions on specific issues.
