BJP leader Dilip Ghosh has made a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal, alleging that the party is now run by "anti-social elements." His remark has escalated political tensions just ahead of the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
🔹 Ghosh Slams TMC Leadership
During a press interaction, Dilip Ghosh, BJP national vice-president and former Bengal BJP president, criticized the law and order situation in the state.
“The TMC is no longer a political party; it has become a shelter for anti-socials who are ruining the state's democratic fabric,” he said.
He further alleged that violence, intimidation, and corruption have become routine in the governance of West Bengal under the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government.
🔹 Political Violence & BJP's Concerns
The BJP has repeatedly raised concerns over rising political violence in Bengal, particularly during elections.
Dilip Ghosh pointed to several instances of booth capturing, voter suppression, and attacks on opposition workers, accusing the state administration of turning a blind eye.
🔹 TMC Reacts
TMC leaders responded strongly to Ghosh’s remarks, calling them baseless and politically motivated.
A senior TMC spokesperson said,
The BJP is frustrated by their declining influence in Bengal. Such statements are meant to provoke unrest.
🔹 Eye on 2024: BJP vs TMC Showdown
With the general elections nearing, both parties have intensified their campaigns. The BJP is focusing on issues like corruption, crime, and lack of industrial growth, while TMC is projecting its welfare schemes and regional leadership.
