Congress leader and former MP Udit Raj came out strongly against what he described as a "fake and politically motivated chargesheet" filed against party veterans Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. The Congress has condemned the move, terming it a part of a larger strategy to malign the party's leadership ahead of crucial elections.
Completely Fabricated Case Udit Raj
Udit Raj stated that the chargesheet was a "completely fabricated and illegal attempt" to target the Gandhi family and distract from pressing national issues. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“This is nothing but political vendetta. The BJP is using agencies to harass opposition leaders through fake legal actions.
Political Tensions Rise Ahead of Elections
This development comes as political tensions escalate with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The Congress has accused the BJP-led government of weaponizing investigative agencies to suppress dissent and damage the credibility of its top leaders.
Congress spokespersons have said this move is designed to shift public attention from issues like inflation, unemployment, and farmers’ distress.
Congress Plans Nationwide Protests
In response, the Congress is planning nationwide protests and legal countermeasures. The party is likely to take this issue to the Supreme Court if necessary.
Leaders have vowed to expose what they call the "real face of authoritarianism" emerging in Indian politics.
BJP Yet to Respond
As of now, the BJP has not released an official statement regarding the allegations made by Udit Raj. However, sources suggest that the government maintains the legal action was carried out based on due process.
