All India Kisan Congress launches 'Kisan-Mazdoor Samman Evam Nyay Yatra' in Uttar Pradesh from January 18 to address farmers' issues.

The All India Kisan Congress, the farmers' wing of the Indian National Congress, is set to begin the 'Kisan-Mazdoor Samman Evam Nyay Yatra' in Uttar Pradesh. Scheduled to commence on January 18, 2025, this initiative aims to address critical issues affecting farmers and laborers. The announcement was made by the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) following a strategic meeting led by state unit chief Ajay Rai.

Purpose of the Yatra

The 'Kisan-Mazdoor Samman Evam Nyay Yatra' is designed to highlight the struggles of farmers, laborers, women farmers, and artisans who, according to Congress, have been marginalized by central and state government policies. Ajay Rai, while addressing the preparatory meeting, criticized the government for failing to deliver on promises such as providing a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) to farmers.

Route and Organization

The yatra will kick off from the Loni border in Ghaziabad and will traverse all districts of Uttar Pradesh. Each district will host events coordinated by designated leaders under the guidance of national and state-level Congress officials. To ensure smooth execution, national coordinators have been appointed at the divisional level, while district-level activities will be supervised by national office bearers from other states and local Kisan Congress officials.

Role of Kisan Nyay Yodhas

A major focus of the yatra is mobilizing grassroots support by identifying and training 300 "Kisan Nyay Yodhas" (farm justice warriors) in every district. These individuals will represent farmers' interests and participate in advocacy activities. By the conclusion of the yatra, a grand conference is planned, bringing together 22,500 Kisan Nyay Yodhas from all 75 districts.

The campaign’s long-term vision includes the creation of 300 Kisan Nyay Yodhas in every assembly constituency by next year. This groundwork is aimed at organizing a mega farmers' conference involving 1,20,900 participants before the 2027 assembly elections.

Addressing Farmers' Issues

The Congress has accused the central government of abandoning its promises made during the farmers' movement, particularly regarding MSP guarantees. Ajay Rai emphasized that this silence is detrimental to the agricultural community. Akhilesh Shukla, National Vice President of the All India Kisan Congress, echoed this sentiment, asserting that the rally is essential to reviving the discourse around farmers' rights and welfare.

Collaboration and Leadership

The yatra is a coordinated effort involving national and state leadership, ensuring that the campaign is comprehensive and impactful. Local leaders have been entrusted with organizing district-level activities, while national coordinators will monitor progress at higher administrative levels. This multi-tiered strategy underscores the Congress' commitment to addressing farmers' concerns effectively.

Future Prospects

The yatra marks the beginning of a sustained campaign to engage with farmers and laborers across Uttar Pradesh. By mobilizing large-scale participation and fostering grassroots leadership, Congress aims to strengthen its political presence in the state. The planned mega conference before the 2027 elections is expected to further amplify farmers' voices and issues on a national platform.

Conclusion

The 'Kisan-Mazdoor Samman Evam Nyay Yatra' is a significant step by the All India Kisan Congress to advocate for farmers' rights and highlight their grievances. Through this initiative, Congress hopes to revive its connect with rural constituencies and push for policy changes that benefit the agricultural community.
