Where Do I Vote in the Canadian Federal Election?
Hey everyone! The Canadian federal election is right around the corner, and with a record-breaking 7.3 million people already voting early (a whopping 25% increase from 2021!), things are heating up. This is your guide to making sure your voice is heard, whether you're in Canada or abroad. Let's get you ready to vote!
Finding Your Polling Station
Polls are open from 9:30 AM to 9:30 PM ET on election day, Monday, April 28th. To find your polling station, check your voter information card or head to Elections Canada's website (elections.ca). You can also give them a call at 1-800-463-6868. Important note: your advance polling location might be different from your election day location, so double-check!
Your Voting Options
So, how do you actually vote? You've got a few choices:
- Advance Voting: This is super popular now! You can vote between April 18th and 21st at a designated advance polling station. Check the Elections Canada website for details.
- Voting by Mail: Request your mail-in ballot by 6 PM on April 22nd through the Elections Canada website. Easy peasy!
- Special Ballot: If you're out of town or abroad on election day, you can apply for a special ballot. The deadline for this is also 6 PM on April 22nd.
Getting Ready to Vote
Before you head to the polls, it's a good idea to do a little research on the candidates in your riding and their platforms. There are tons of online resources to help you make an informed choice. And don't forget a valid piece of ID with your address to prove who you are and where you live!
Some Ridings Are REALLY Close!
Some areas are going to be nail-biters. Take Trois-Rivières, for example. The Bloc Québécois, the Liberal Party, and the Conservative Party are all vying for the seat. Local issues and the candidates themselves will definitely play a big role in who wins – it's going to be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Don't let this election pass you by! Take the time to learn about the candidates, find your polling station, and plan your visit to the polls. Your vote really does count. Elections Canada's website has all the details you need to be ready to vote on April 28th. Let's make our voices heard!
