When Pakistan's wicketkeeper-batter, Azam Khan, was dismissed for a duck during the T20 World Cup match between the United States and Pakistan at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, he became involved in a violent argument with onlookers. The devastating loss Pakistan suffered against the co-hosts, which was finally settled by a Super Over, coincided with this incident.

With criticism growing for his previous performances, especially in the England series and given his inclusion in the T20 World Cup team, Azam Khan was dismissed for the second time in a row. When Azam was dismissed by left-arm spinner Nosthush Kenjige after a five-ball duck against England, it was a golden duck versus the USA.
Azam received abuse by onlookers in Dallas when he returned to the pavilion for being dismissed. In response, the 25-year-old raced in the direction of a fan and looked threateningly at him. Azam was seen on camera mouthing a few words, probably expressing his irritation, and then walking in the direction of the dressing room.
It was in the final ball of the 13th over in Pakistan's innings that Azam was dismissed, following Kenjige's break of the strong 72-run partnership between captain Babar Azam and Shadab Khan. Shadab's removal caused a collapse, limiting Pakistan to a low score of 159 for seven, despite the two players' best attempts to turn around their innings, taking them from 26 for three to 98 for four.

The USA squad, captained by Monank Patel, responded with a chase that was surprisingly composed. After Pakistan threatened with a comeback, Patel's fifty and significant contributions from Andries Gous and Aaron Jones enabled the home team to square the score in the chase, despite a brief scare following Steven Taylor's dismissal.
Mohammed Amir's troubles in the following Super Over, which included three wides, enabled the USA to set a target of 13. After that, Saurabh Netravalkar bowled a perfect over for the home team, giving up just 13 runs and giving the USA their second straight T20 World Cup triumph.
Pakistan's problems in the competition are made worse by this defeat, their hopes of winning are now in ruins as they look to make amends in their next games.
