Erling Haaland, the star striker for Manchester City, has signed a new long-term contract with the club, extending his stay until 2034. This new deal has fans excited, as Haaland has been an incredible player since joining the club in 2022. In his first season, he scored 52 goals, helping City win a historic treble that included the Champions League, Premier League, and FA Cup. This achievement made Manchester City only the second English club in history to win all three major trophies in the same season, following Manchester United.

Last season, Haaland continued to impress, scoring 38 goals as Manchester City won their fourth consecutive Premier League title. This season, despite challenges in both domestic and European competitions, he has already scored 21 goals.

Reflecting on his new contract, Haaland expressed his happiness and excitement about staying at Manchester City for a long time. He said, “I am really happy to have signed my new contract and to be able to look forward to spending even more time at this great club.” He praised the environment at the club, highlighting the fantastic people, amazing supporters, and the coaching staff, including manager Pep Guardiola. Haaland also thanked his teammates for their support, saying they have made his time at the club very special.

In a post on Manchester City’s official social media, the club announced, “Erling’s here to stay! We’re thrilled to announce Erling Haaland has extended his contract at City to 2034.” Txiki Begiristain, the club's outgoing director of football, also expressed his excitement about the deal, saying it shows the club’s commitment to Haaland as a key player for the future.

Haaland's new contract is the longest of any current Premier League player, lasting for nine-and-a-half years. The deal shows the club’s belief in Haaland's ability to continue being a key player for many more seasons. His contract will expire in 2034, which is longer than other recent Premier League contracts, such as those signed by Chelsea players Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson, whose deals run until 2033.

This announcement comes at a time when Manchester City is awaiting the results of a hearing into allegations that they broke spending rules between 2009 and 2018. The club faces 115 charges related to financial fair play regulations but has strongly denied any wrongdoing.

Haaland’s new deal confirms his commitment to Manchester City, and the club is excited about the future with him leading the attack for many more years to come.
