Deandra Dottin helped Gujarat Giants Women win by six wickets against UP Warriorz Women in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) yesterday. Dottin scored 33 runs from 18 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes, as Gujarat chased down the Warriorz's total of 143 runs in just 18 overs.
At one point, Gujarat was struggling at 86 for 4, but Dottin and Harleen Deol built a strong partnership of 58 runs to secure the win. Deol finished with 34 runs from 30 balls. Gujarat’s captain, Ashleigh Gardner, also played well, scoring 52 runs from 32 balls.
Earlier, Gujarat’s bowlers restricted UP Warriorz to a low total. Priya Mishra took 3 wickets for 25 runs, and Dottin and Gardner took 2 wickets each.
In another match, Mumbai Indians Women lost to Delhi Capitals Women by two wickets. Hayley Matthews took 2 wickets for 32 runs, but Mumbai’s total of 164 runs was chased down by Delhi, who scored 165 for 8. Shafali Verma scored 43 runs for Delhi, while Nat Sciver-Brunt’s 80 not out was not enough for Mumbai to win.
The WPL continues to offer exciting cricket action as teams compete for the title.
