The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is finally here, and Pakistan is hosting the tournament for the first time. The event kicks off tomorrow with the opening match between Pakistan and New Zealand. Eight teams will compete for the title, and there’s a lot to look forward to.
India’s Schedule and Group Details
India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand are in Group A, while Australia, Afghanistan, England, and South Africa are in Group B. India, who were runners-up in 2017, will play their group matches in Dubai. India’s schedule is as follows: they will face Bangladesh on February 20, Pakistan on February 23, and New Zealand on March 2.
Format and Prize Money
The eight teams were chosen based on the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup results. The top eight teams from the World Cup, including host Pakistan, secured their places. The tournament format is simple: each team will play the others in their group, and the top two teams from each group will move on to the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals will play for the title in the final.
The total prize pool for the Champions Trophy 2025 has increased to $6.9 million, a 53% rise from 2017. The winner will receive $2.24 million, while the runner-up will take home $1.12 million. The losing semi-finalists will each get $560,000.
