The Indian Badminton Duo of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj gained popularity in no time. Further, Adding to the series of medals and achievements for the nation, they won the men’s doubles title in the Super 1000 event at Indonesia Open. The event certainly turned out to be a proud moment for India as they became the first Indian Pair to win the title for the same.
The event was held in Jakarta where Kidambi Srikanth and Saina Nehwal won the singles title. The duo defeated Malaysia’s Aaron Chia and Wooi Yik Soh 21-17, 21-18. Although the game was a slow start by the end the champions turned the tables around.

Chirag Shetty: Born in Mumbai, the 25-year-old star’s parents were very supportive of him. Chandrashekhar Shetty his father encouraged both his son and daughter to take any sport they like. Chirag eventually selected badminton which can be played both individually and with a partner.
From the very Childhood, Chirag had shown his potential in sports. In his school, Ryan International he became a known champion. Later, he went on with his passion and expertise he started his professional career at Uday Power Academy. Then, he moved to Hyderabad where he joined Gopichand Academy which has made many world-class players. That was when he found his doubles partner and fellow Champion Satwiksairaj Rankireddy.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy: Hailing from a town called Amalapuram in Andhra Pradesh, He was born to a Badminton player. His elder brother and he both turned out to have a passion for the game and went ahead with it. In 2011, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy chose to join the popular academy in Hyderabad( Gopichand Academy) where he even met Chirag and chose to become a doubles specialist. He was trained under Maithas Boe, who is a gold medalist in the field himself.

Previous Achievements
2018: Both played a crucial role in earning gold medals in the name of the nation in the Mixed Team event held in the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
2019: They became the first Indian doubles pair who won BWF Superseries title beating the Chinese players Liu Yuchen and Li Junhui.
2021: This year even after facing some defeats in the 2020 Yonex Thailand Open and 2020 Summer Olympics. They became the only players to defeat gold medalists Lee Yang and Wang-Chi Lin. Even by the end of this year, they paved the way for their entry to BWF World Tour Finals for the first time in their whole career.
2022: The year started with another victory in the hands of the duo, who won the India Open.
