Jamie Vardy to Leave Leicester City After 13 Years, Plans Next Career Move
Leicester, April 24, 2025 – Jamie Vardy has officially confirmed he will leave Leicester City at the end of the 2024–25 season, closing the curtain on an iconic 13-year spell with the Foxes.
Vardy, 38, joined Leicester in 2012 from Fleetwood Town for £1 million, a move that would become one of the most memorable in Premier League history. From non-league football to lifting the 2015–16 Premier League trophy, Vardy has been at the heart of Leicester’s biggest triumphs—including their first-ever FA Cup win in 2021.
A Club Legend Bows Out
Over the years, Vardy became Leicester’s all-time top scorer, netting 198 goals in 496 appearances. Even though the club was relegated this season, his commitment never wavered.
But this isn’t the end of his playing days. Vardy has made it clear he's not retiring. Offers have already rolled in from Major League Soccer (MLS) and clubs in Saudi Arabia, and he’s looking forward to continuing his career abroad.
Vardy’s Emotional Goodbye
In a heartfelt message, Vardy thanked Leicester’s owners, teammates, and fans for their support throughout his journey. He called the club his “second home” and shared fond memories, including their unforgettable title-winning run and Champions League adventure.
Club chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha praised Vardy’s lasting impact, calling him a player who will “always be part of Leicester’s family.”
Final Farewell Match Set
Vardy will play his final match at the King Power Stadium on May 18, 2025, against Ipswich Town. Fans are expected to turn out in full force to give him a hero’s sendoff.
