Real Madrid delivered a stunning performance against Salzburg, winning 5-1 on matchday 7 of the Champions League group stage. This dominant victory moved the Spanish giants closer to securing a spot in the playoffs and kept their hopes alive for a top-eight finish, which would guarantee direct qualification to the Round of 16.

The attacking trio of Vinicius, Rodrygo, and Kylian Mbappe were in top form, and their combined efforts tore apart Salzburg's defense. Rodrygo and Vinicius each scored twice, while Mbappe netted one, contributing to a memorable night for Real Madrid.

Early Dominance and Stunning Goals

Real Madrid started strong, with the opening goal coming in the 23rd minute. Rodrygo, who has been impressive for Madrid, scored his 21st Champions League goal after a brilliant team effort. A pass from Bellingham set up a perfect cross into the box, and Rodrygo finished with a powerful shot to give Madrid the lead.

Just 11 minutes later, Rodrygo and Bellingham combined for another exceptional goal. Rodrygo picked up the ball on the left, passed to Bellingham, and the Englishman returned it with a stunning backheel. Rodrygo’s composed finish made it 2-0, sending Madrid into the break with a solid advantage.

Mbappe Strikes and Vinicius Shines

The second half saw Salzburg’s hopes dashed in the 47th minute due to a disastrous mistake by Salzburg’s goalkeeper, Blasvig. Under pressure from Mbappe, Blasvig lost possession of the ball, and the French star took advantage, scoring into an empty net to make it 3-0.

Real Madrid’s attack was relentless, and in the 55th minute, Vinicius added a fourth goal with a stunning solo effort. After dazzling his defender, Vinicius slotted the ball past Blasvig with a composed right-footed finish.

Vinicius completed his brace in the 77th minute, scoring a brilliant left-footed goal after a perfectly timed pass from Valverde. This made the score 5-0, leaving Salzburg with little chance of a comeback.

Salzburg's Consolation Goal

Salzburg managed to score a late consolation goal in the 85th minute, with Bindstrup finding the back of the net, but it was too little, too late. Real Madrid had already sealed a dominant 5-1 victory by then.

With this result, Real Madrid climbed to 16 points in the group, while Salzburg remained in third place with just 3 points. Real Madrid’s next match will be against Brest in France, while Salzburg will face Atletico Madrid in their final group-stage fixture.
