Sedona Prince Goes Undrafted in 2025 WNBA Draft Despite Strong Season
Former TCU standout center Sedona Prince went unselected in the 2025 WNBA Draft, held Monday night, despite a stellar college season that helped elevate her team’s performance.
The 6-foot-7 senior had been a key figure in TCU’s remarkable turnaround from a struggling Big 12 program to an Elite Eight contender. But her WNBA dreams were put on hold, as teams appeared hesitant to take a chance on her — possibly due to off-court controversies and injury concerns.
Prince’s Impact at TCU
Prince transferred to Texas Christian University (TCU) after previous stints at Texas and Oregon, where she dealt with numerous injuries, including a broken leg, a torn elbow ligament, and a broken finger.
At TCU, however, she found a resurgence under head coach Mark Campbell, who had also coached her at Oregon. In the 2023–24 season, Prince averaged:
-
19.7 points
-
9.7 rebounds
-
2.9 blocks per game
She was also named First Team All-Big 12 and earned a spot on the All-Defensive Team, showcasing her dominance on both ends of the court.
Off-Court Allegations and Concerns
Despite her on-court success, Prince’s name was surrounded by controversy.
In August 2024, content creator Olivia Stabile posted a series of TikTok videos accusing Prince of pushing her off an ATV and hitting her during a trip to Tulum, Mexico. Stabile repeated the allegations in a March interview with ESPNW.
Prince denied the allegations in a public statement issued on August 31, 2024.
Further complicating matters, in January 2025, it was reported that both Prince and a former TCU student, who was also her ex-girlfriend, had filed separate police reports alleging intimate partner violence. No criminal charges were filed in either case.
What's Next for Prince?
Although she was overlooked on draft night, Prince’s basketball journey may not be over. She could still:
-
Join a WNBA team as a free agent
-
Pursue a career overseas, where many American players have found success
With her height, shot-blocking ability, and improved mid-range game, Prince remains a valuable prospect — if a team is willing to look past the noise.
Connection With Hailey Van Lith
During her time at TCU, Prince developed strong on-court chemistry with Hailey Van Lith, especially in the pick-and-roll game. Van Lith, notably, was selected in the first round by the Chicago Sky in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
