Virat Kohli, one of India’s cricket stars, faced another disappointing moment during the Delhi vs Railways Ranji Trophy match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday. Kohli came to bat after Yash Dhull was dismissed, but his stay at the crease was short-lived. Kohli, who had been struggling with his form in red-ball cricket recently, faced Himanshu Sangwan and was dismissed for just six runs off 15 balls.
Kohli’s Short Stay at the Crease
Kohli started cautiously, getting off the mark with a single, but soon smacked his first boundary off Himanshu Sangwan. However, his relief was short-lived. On the very next ball, Kohli made a big mistake. He stepped out of the crease, but Sangwan bowled an inswinging delivery that caught Kohli off guard. The ball went through the bat-pad gap, hitting his off-stump, and Kohli was bowled out. The stadium went silent as Kohli walked off the field, clearly disappointed with his performance. It was another failure for him in red-ball cricket, as fans had hoped for a better show.

Fan Excitement and Security Breach
The excitement in the Arun Jaitley Stadium had been high, with many fans eager to see Virat Kohli back in action after his recent struggles. The crowd had been buzzing on Day 1 of the match, with more than 15,000 fans attending the game. In fact, extra gates had to be opened, and additional security was deployed to handle the huge crowd. The excitement was so much that a fan managed to breach the security and rush onto the field to meet Kohli. He even touched Kohli's feet before security could intervene. Kohli, however, asked security to treat the fan gently and avoid any harsh actions.

Despite the early excitement, the match didn’t go in favor of Delhi. While Delhi’s bowlers Navdeep Saini and Siddhant Sharma had Railways struggling at 21/3, Kohli’s wicket added to the disappointment of the day. The Delhi crowd was expecting a great innings from their star, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
This latest setback in the Ranji Trophy is part of a series of underwhelming performances by Kohli in domestic red-ball cricket. Fans continue to wait for the Virat Kohli they know, but with each passing match, the pressure continues to build.
