Google has launched its latest AI model, Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking, which is designed to reason and break down problems step by step before providing answers. This new feature helps users understand why the AI responded in a certain way and what assumptions it made.
The release follows OpenAI’s introduction of its o3 and o3-mini reasoning models last week. Although Google is a bit late, it claims Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking is now the world's best AI model.
What’s New in Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking?
The model is now available in the dropdown menu on both desktop and mobile apps. Initially launched in December 2024, it competes with OpenAI’s o1 and DeepSeek’s R1 models.
Google is also introducing Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental with Apps, which allows AI to interact with YouTube, Google Search, and Google Maps. This feature makes the AI more personalized and dynamic, helping users find information more easily.

These models analyze complex tasks step by step, leading to more accurate responses, though they may take a little longer to process.
Introducing Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental
Google also revealed Gemini 2.0 Pro, an advanced AI designed for coding and complex problem-solving. It can interact with Google Search and even execute code for users, making it more powerful than previous versions.
A major highlight of Gemini 2.0 Pro is its 2-million-token context window, meaning it can process around 1.5 million words in a single session. This makes it one of the most capable AI models in the world.
Who Can Use It?
- Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking is available to all users starting today.
- Gemini 2.0 Pro is exclusive to Gemini Advanced subscribers via the Gemini app.
With these updates, Google is stepping up its AI game, offering users more intelligent, efficient, and interactive assistance than ever before.
