Netflix has quietly raised its subscription prices in the UK, making all its plans more expensive. This includes the cheapest plan that comes with ads—marking the first time Netflix has increased its price.

Just two weeks ago, Netflix announced price hikes for viewers in the US, Canada, Portugal, and Argentina. Now, UK subscribers are also affected.

Here’s how much the prices have changed:

  • Standard with Ads: £4.99 → £5.99 (+£1)
  • Standard (No Ads): £10.99 → £12.99 (+£2)
  • Premium (4K & HDR): £17.99 → £18.99 (+£1)

If you’re a new subscriber, these prices apply immediately. If you're already subscribed, your bill will go up starting with your next payment cycle. Netflix will notify users by email about the change.

Netflix says the price increase will help fund more shows and movies. Recent hits like Squid Game Season 2, Stranger Things, The Crown, and big sports events like the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing match have attracted millions of viewers.

Additionally, Netflix has been cracking down on password sharing, requiring users outside the same household to pay extra. This move helped Netflix gain millions of new subscribers, but now those users must decide whether to pay more or cancel.

If you watch live events on Netflix in the UK, you also need a TV license.
