TikTok is back on Apple and Google app stores in the US after former President Donald Trump delayed the enforcement of a ban on the popular app until April 5.
The app, used by over 170 million Americans, briefly disappeared last month as the ban deadline approached. However, Trump later signed an order giving TikTok 75 more days to follow a law requiring its Chinese owner, ByteDance, to sell its US operations or face a ban.
According to Bloomberg, TikTok’s return happened after Apple and Google were assured they wouldn’t be held responsible for allowing downloads while the ban remains on hold.

The law, initially signed by former President Joe Biden, was passed due to concerns that China could use TikTok for spying or political influence—claims that both China and TikTok strongly deny. The Supreme Court upheld the ban, but enforcement is now delayed.
Trump, who once supported banning TikTok, has since changed his stance, saying he has a "warm spot" for the app. He met with TikTok’s CEO, Shou Chew, after winning the 2024 election and even attended his inauguration.
Now, Trump is looking for a compromise. He suggested that a US company could buy TikTok, proposing that “half” of it should be given to the US in exchange for approval. He also mentioned potential buyers like Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison and billionaire Elon Musk.
Other figures, including investor Kevin O’Leary and YouTube star MrBeast, have also shown interest in buying TikTok. For now, the app remains available for US users as negotiations continue.
