The city of Gurugram is grappling with a critical situation as communal violence broke out between a group of young men and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) during a religious procession in the Nuh district of Haryana. The clashes, which occurred on Monday, resulted in the tragic loss of six lives and left more than 20 police personnel injured.

According to official reports from the Haryana government, the violence has escalated significantly, with six fatalities recorded so far. In response to the unrest, 116 individuals have been arrested, and 90 others detained. Additionally, 44 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed in connection with the clashes, which have also spread to adjoining areas of Haryana, including Delhi and Rajasthan's Bhiwani.

The incident originated when a group of young men halted the VHP's 'Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra' near Khedla Mod in Nuh and began pelting stones at the religious procession. Police vehicles were also targeted and damaged during the clashes. Furthermore, several cars were set on fire in various districts of Haryana during the violence.

In response to the tense situation, the Gurugram district administration took preventative measures by announcing the closure of all schools, colleges, and educational institutes in the city on the following day. Moreover, in a bid to curb the spread of misinformation and prevent further escalation, the authorities extended the mobile internet ban until August 5, which as per the authorities might open today.

As of August 3rd, Gurugram ACP (Crime) Varun Dahiya provided an update on the situation, stating that the city is now under control and deemed "completely normal." Twenty-two FIRs have been registered, and 21 suspects have already been apprehended. The police are continuing their efforts to identify and arrest more suspects involved in the recent violence.

On the other hand, in Haryana's Nuh district, SP Nuh, Varun Singla, reported that no fresh incidents of violence have been reported following the initial clashes. Security forces have been deployed in all areas, with approximately 14 companies of central paramilitary forces and 21 companies of Haryana Police working diligently to maintain vigilance day and night. The situation seems to be stabilizing, with a sense of normalization prevailing. However, authorities registered four fresh FIRs in the last 24 hours, indicating that they remain vigilant.

The state and local authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and further efforts are underway to prevent any potential escalation of violence. Residents are urged to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities during this critical period. The government is working to ensure the safety and security of all citizens, and they continue to appeal for communal harmony and peace in the region.
