The devastation has been evident, with a 4-year-old boy losing his life in Tirupati district due to a collapsing wall, while eight others perished in neighboring Tamil Nadu state. In Chennai, floodwaters submerged roads, swept away vehicles, and even impacted the city's airport, causing its temporary closure until Tuesday morning. Although the rains have ceased and water levels have receded, the damage has been substantial, including power outages, fallen trees, and significant transportation disruptions with over 140 trains and 40 flights cancelled in Andhra Pradesh alone.

The adverse weather conditions have also impacted global industries, with Taiwan-based Foxconn and Pegatron suspending Apple iPhone production at their facilities near Chennai due to the heavy rains. This event echoes the catastrophic floods experienced in Tamil Nadu back in December 2015, which claimed the lives of at least 290 individuals and caused extensive destruction across the region.
