A massive data breach involving the theft of 400,000 Social Security numbers has surfaced, and Elon Musk has hinted that an arrest is imminent. The billionaire entrepreneur linked the breach to illegal immigration and voter fraud, suggesting that stolen identities could be used for unauthorized voting.
Musk Hints at Arrest Over Stolen Personal Data
Speaking on the matter, Musk claimed that an individual responsible for stealing and selling personal information from the Social Security database would be arrested soon. A voice note, shared on X by DogeDesigner, reportedly captured a statement from a high-ranking official at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), saying, "I believe that someone is going to be arrested tomorrow."
Musk reinforced the severity of the issue, explaining that the stolen Social Security numbers could facilitate identity fraud. "This is a key loophole that enables non-citizens to vote, as Social Security is the primary means of identification in the U.S.," he stated.
Concerns Over Illegal Immigration and Voter Fraud
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO accused Democratic policies of making it easier for undocumented immigrants to access government benefits. He suggested that Social Security, Medicare, unemployment benefits, and IRS refunds were being misused. "Every part of the government that could be leveraged to provide financial incentives for illegal immigrants has been utilized," Musk alleged.
Additionally, he claimed that disaster relief funds had been redirected to house undocumented migrants in luxury hotels in New York. "FEMA funds, meant to aid Americans affected by natural disasters, were instead used to pay for extravagant accommodations," he asserted.
No Official Confirmation on Arrest or Investigation
Despite Musk’s claims, there has been no official confirmation from law enforcement agencies regarding an arrest or investigation related to the data breach. Government officials have not issued statements verifying Musk’s allegations.
Social Security Fraud Under Scrutiny
This isn’t the first time Musk has raised concerns about the Social Security system. In a conversation with podcaster Joe Rogan, he described Social Security as "the biggest Ponzi scheme of all time."
Meanwhile, former Social Security Commissioner Michael Astrue criticized the current administration’s handling of the system. Speaking to NPR, Astrue claimed that DOGE workers lacked expertise in COBOL, the programming language critical to Social Security’s operations. He warned that without proper knowledge, vital functions could be compromised.
Astrue also pointed out that the administration's approach to Social Security reform appeared uninformed. "Instead of admitting their mistakes, they doubled down, having the President of the United States echo those claims," he remarked, adding that such actions misrepresented the actual challenges facing the Social Security system.
