Ashley St. Clair Says Elon Musk Offered $15M to Keep Son a Secret
In a surprising twist involving Elon Musk, conservative author and social media figure Ashley St. Clair says the billionaire offered her millions to stay silent about their child.
St. Clair, 26, revealed that she and Musk had a son named Romulus, born in September 2024. The two reportedly began dating in 2023 after meeting at Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) offices in San Francisco.
According to St. Clair, Musk offered her $15 million upfront and $100,000 per month until their son turns 21 — under the condition that she keep the pregnancy and his paternity private. These details were confirmed by sources close to St. Clair and reported in the Wall Street Journal.
A Relationship Hidden in Silence
While she was pregnant, Musk allegedly sent $2 million to cover expenses, structured as a loan. St. Clair said she was advised by Musk’s team to stay indoors and keep his name off the birth certificate — which she did.
Shortly after giving birth, she was asked to sign a confidentiality agreement that would have legally barred her from speaking about Musk or their child, in exchange for long-term financial support. However, she refused to sign the deal.
St. Clair expressed concern that the proposed agreement lacked basic protections for their child, such as a trust fund, life insurance, or provisions in case of serious illness.
Citing Safety and Political Power
Leaked text messages suggest Musk cited security concerns due to his role as a top advisor in the Trump administration. He reportedly said he was second only to Trump in terms of assassination risk, writing,
“Only the paranoid survive.”
He believed that keeping his paternity secret was safer for the child.
A Public Announcement After Failed Deals
St. Clair had kept the birth private for months, but once rumors of the child began surfacing in the media, she decided to go public.
On February 14, 2025, she posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father.”
She said she had stayed silent to protect her child’s privacy, but felt forced to speak out once tabloid stories were in the works.
A One-Sided Deal?
According to the WSJ, the deal Musk offered would have also prevented St. Clair from speaking negatively about him to their child. However, it did not restrict Musk from criticizing her if he chose to.
If she ever broke the terms of the agreement, she would have to repay the $15 million — a clause St. Clair found unfair.
Legal Disputes and DNA Tests
St. Clair, who lives in New York, said she was advised to request a paternity test, which is necessary in the state to legally seek child support.
Her lawyer, Karen B. Rosenthal, confirmed that such a test would be required by court to formalize any child support arrangements.
With no agreement reached privately, the matter may move into legal territory in the coming months.
