Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently held meetings with CEOs of several tech giants as part of the 'Hi-Tech Handshake' initiative, aimed at enhancing the tech sector. During these meetings, PM Modi emphasized the Indian government's efforts to address regulatory obstacles that hinder collaboration between India and these companies. The focus of these investments is to promote digital transformation, create job opportunities, boost Indian export, and support local language content.

Google to Invest $10 Billion 

Following his meeting with PM Modi in Washington, DC, Google, and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai announced that Google plans to invest $10 billion in India's digitization fund.  Pichai praised PM Modi's vision for Digital India, considering it a model for other countries.

"We are announcing the opening of our global fintech operation center in GIFT City, Gujarat," news agency ANI quoted Mr Pichai as saying.

Amazon to create more job opportunities, investment of $15 billion

After meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amazon CEO Andrew Jassy emphasized his dedication to generate more job opportunities in India. It is worth noting that Amazon has been one of the major investors in the country.

"Very interested in helping create more jobs, helping digitize more small and medium size businesses and helping more Indian companies and products be able to be exported all around the world," said Jassy adding, “We have already invested 11 billion dollars, with an intention to invest another 15 billion dollars bringing the total to 26 billion dollars."

Microsoft to support local language content

Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella discussed the power of technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence.

“India is home to one of the most vibrant developer and start-up ecosystems in the world, and Microsoft remains deeply committed to the growth of Indian technology - that will impact both India and markets across the globe," a Microsoft statement said after the meeting.

Microsoft also recently launched Jugalbandi, an AI-driven chatbot that assists the Indian government in multiple languages. It retrieves information on relevant programs, translates them into local languages, and is powered by AI models from AI4Bharat and Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service.

These investment announcements by global tech giants reflect their confidence in India. The investments aim to position India as a global digital powerhouse, fostering innovation and creating employment opportunities in the country.
