The Shop Tab is a new way to directly discover and rent new movies. This new feature marks an end to the decade of service provided by Google Play Movies & TV.

Google Play Movies & TV was launched in 2011. For years, it has provided a straightforward solution that enhanced entertainment across platforms like Youtube.

The new store option, which will be displayed right on the home page, will include films that can be rented and bought. It will feature all of the most recent films that are accessible on websites like Google Play Movies, Google TV, and YouTube. Movies that you have already purchased on a tablet or smartphone are also available from this menu.

As per the article by YourStory, This recent update is known to be rolled out in the United States only but it’s set to become available in 24 countries by the next some weeks.

This news signifies the evolution in the digital entertainment sphere where Google is streamlining its services.

For over a year, Amazon Prime Video has offered a feature similar to this, where all rentals are found under the 'shop' tab and include both Prime-exclusive movies and material from other OTT services including Lionsgate Play and, AMC+.
