Reuters was unable to independently confirm the party responsible for the hospital blast.

Mai Alkaila, the Gazan government's health minister, charged Israel with a massacre. A health ministry official estimated 500 deaths, but the head of Gaza's civil defense reported 300 deaths.

Prior to the incident on Tuesday, health officials in Gaza reported that over the course of Israel's 11-day bombardment, which started after Hamas militants launched an attack on Israeli towns and kibbutzim on October 7, killing over 1,300 people, mostly civilians, more than 3,000 people had been killed overall.

The Israeli military has denied responsibility for the explosion at Al-Ahli al-Arabi hospital in Gaza, claiming it was struck by a rocket launched by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad military group.

Israel Defense Forces report that Gaza-based terrorists launched a failed rocket barrage near a hospital, with multiple intelligence sources pointing to Islamic Jihad's involvement.

Daoud Shehab, spokesperson for Islamic Jihad, refuted Israeli allegations of lies and fabrications, stating that the group was not responsible for the hospital incident.

Palestinian security forces used tear gas and stun grenades to disperse protesters in Ramallah, West Bank, who were throwing rocks and expressing grievances against President Mahmoud Abbas.
