In a distressing incident reported from Chicago, Syed Mazahir Ali, an Indian student originally from Hyderabad, fell victim to a violent robbery and assault near his apartment on Campbell Avenue. Ali, who is enrolled in a Masters's program in Information Technology at Indiana Wesleyan University, suffered significant injuries during the attack and was subsequently admitted to a local hospital for treatment. The alarming nature of the incident was brought to light when his wife, Syeda Ruquiya Fatima Razvi, residing in Hyderabad, received a distressing phone call from one of Ali's friends on February 4th, informing her of her husband's critical condition.
In an urgent appeal for assistance, Razvi reached out to Subramanian Jaishankar, the Union External Affairs Minister of India, detailing the harrowing experience her husband endured and the dire situation he was in, with injuries so severe that he was left bleeding and unable to speak. Through her letter, Razvi not only sought the minister's intervention in ensuring that her husband receives the best possible medical treatment but also requested support to facilitate her travel to the United States along with her three minor children, emphasizing the urgent need for her to be by her husband's side during this critical time.

Responding to the gravity of the situation, the Indian Consulate in Chicago promptly took steps to offer assistance to Ali and his family.
