As per the Express Tribune, the daily English-language newspaper based in Pakistan, Muhammad Azfar Ahsan former Chairman of the Board of Investment (BOI) has stated that on June 29, Ma landed in Lahore and remained for 23 hours.

Jack Ma steered clear of speaking with the press and authorities throughout the visit. He lived in a discreet area and flew out on June 30 on a private aircraft operated by Jet Aviation and with the registration number VP-CMA.

The Express Tribune reports that although Ma's visit's objectives are now unknown, there is optimism that they would benefit Pakistan shortly, according to Ahsan.

Ma was joined by a delegation of seven businesspeople, five of them were Chinese, one was Danish, and one was American. They traveled from Nepal to Pakistan aboard a chartered airplane operated by Hong Kong's corporate aviation industry.

On social media, there have been several rumors regarding Ma and his team looking into business prospects in Pakistan, including going to trade centers and meeting with influential businesspeople and representatives from various chambers of commerce. There has, however, been no proof of any specific commercial talks or transactions.

Ahsan stated in a tweet that Ma's travel was only for personal reasons. He said that it was interesting that not even the Chinese embassy was informed of Ma's visit and activities there.

According to P@SHA Chairman Zohaib Khan in an interview with the Express Tribune, "Although it was a personal visit, it helped improve Pakistan's reputation from a tourism standpoint." Khan said that Pakistani officials ought to have seized the chance to meet Ma and benefit from his extensive knowledge of the IT industry. Even a word from Ma on Pakistan's IT industry, he claimed, would have a big influence.
