Jack Wilshere Appointed Interim Head Coach at Norwich City After Thorup Exit
Jack Wilshere has taken on his first managerial role as he steps in as Norwich City’s interim head coach until the end of the season. The 33-year-old former Arsenal and England midfielder replaces Johannes Hoff Thorup, who was dismissed by the club on Monday.
Wilshere had been serving as a first-team coach and will now lead Norwich for their final two Championship matches — against Middlesbrough and Cardiff City. He will be supported by assistant coaches Tony Roberts and Nick Stanley.
The club currently sits 14th in the Championship standings, with 53 points. With no promotion or relegation threat looming, Wilshere's short-term job will focus on closing the season positively and maintaining team morale.
In an official statement, Norwich City confirmed:
"The club will now progress with its plans of appointing a new permanent head coach in due course."
Wilshere is best known for his time at Arsenal, where he made 197 appearances, scored 14 goals, and provided 28 assists. He won two FA Cups and a Community Shield during his spell in North London. After leaving Arsenal, he also had stints with West Ham United and Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Fans will be watching closely to see how Wilshere performs in his first time leading a senior side, with hopes he can bring fresh energy and direction to Norwich as they plan ahead for next season.
